The Ultimatum

I would like to dedicate this to Mr. Steve Tambellini and…seeing as how they can’t make a decision with out each other…Mr. Kevin Lowe as well as the man who is letting these two ruin this once great franchise, Mr. Katz
As an Oilers Fan for a little over 30 years I am sick of banging my head against the wall at the Gong show that is Oilers Management. I’m not a big reality TV person but if it will make me laugh I’ll watch it. I was expecting “Oil Change” to a knee slapper. Watching you two trying to build anything should have been the laugh of the year, but instead I had to turn it off because it was so pathetic.
Moving forwards I hope you are both put to pasture. Neither of you two have done anything to help bring a winning a cup to this town. Despite his lack of success since he left, Sather was the last real General manager this team had. He at least made trades that would help the team and gave his coaches a chance to make the play-offs. He was the captain of a sinking ship (Thanx to Pocklinton) and never laid the blame on other because of the Oilers lack of success. Lowe blames everybody but himself and Tambi…well…has even made a decision on his own?
As for Mr. Katz. Well you are a Businessman first and an Oilers fan second. You coming to save the Oilers has been a joke. Did you take Hockey Team Ownership 101 from Harrold Ballard? Oilers fans are loyal and all you’ve done is let two nitwits do anything they want but win games, you’ve built a great business deal, for a new arena in Edmonton on the backs of the tax payers, you’ve owned the worst team in the league (OK 2nd worst this year) for 3 years straight and you’ve given nothing back to the fans. Kudos my man. Even the great schemer of them all, Peter Pocklinton wasn’t able to pull that off.
Mr. Katz if you are at all an Oilers fan let me give you a little advice. Take a page out of the Ilitch and Snider owners manual. If you build a winning team you will make more money then if you have a losing one.
So hear is the Ultimatum. Next season it is play-offs or bust. if you can’t do that then please pack up your team and go. I’m not spending any more money, time or emotions on an organization that run the way this one is. Mr. Katz this rests on you. Get rid of the dead weight, bring in some people that actually know what they are doing and show this fans that you are an Oilers Fan, Not just some short, tacky looking billionaire* that is doing lip service to promote his product.
I encourage all Oilers fans to join me in this because our time is to valuable to be wasted another season. There are many teams that do way more, with way less and I truly believe that none of the gentleman mentioned above care enough or know how to win.
*The Tacky looking Billionaire thing has already been done so please find a new look.
Thanx for reading

I do think next year they will make a good run at the playoffs.

Wow... I don't know about moving the team. You would never see another one here for at least 20 years like the Jets, and with how the Eskimos are being ran currently, that's the last thing we need. I used to live in Edmonton and just live north or Fed Deer now, and I know enough that with the Oilers, Esks, and WEM, that city is a dump. It's one of the reasons I moved away (and a job of course). But there is nothing there, so losing the Oilers would be devastating for the city's economy. Think what you like about the cost for an arena and stuff, but if you take away 41 teams coming in who stay in hotels, buy food, spend money if they are there for an extra day, etc etc. Well, quite simply put, your tax dollars will go up to cover those losses that those businesses will no longer get, and you are a fool if you think there is no impact from that.
But I do agree that Lowe and Tambellini have to go. I like Renney as a coach. No one would have been able to do anything with this team over the last three years with the injuries we have had. Even Babcock would have been over his head. When you don't have any depth and your star players are hurt, you are done, I don't care who you are. This team has proven when fully healthy they are a good team. The proved that to start the season, and they have shown flashes over the last 10 games or so. Any other team pounded Chicago twice this year like the Oilers have? Didn't think so. I respect being down about losing... I've been a fan since they entered the league, so I know this is nowhere near the dynasty years. Get rid of all the former Oilers (including Buchberger and Semenko), replace Tambellini and see what happens. None of those things will happen of course, but regardless, I am a hockey fan first and always, and having the team leave is not an idea that any true Oiler fan should ever suggest if you truely love hockey.
