I just think everybody's involved. I don't know what the minutes were tonight, but it felt like we were turning lines over pretty quickly, and all four lines contributed. When you do that, and you have everybody involved, it feels like a team win.
We came ready to play. Anytime you’re playing someone back-to-back, you’ve got to get to another level the next night. We clearly did that.
We lost at home, obviously, and then to play back to back again against a great team like Utah, and you’re able to go into their building on Saturday night and put on a really strong performance and battle back and get a win, I think it’s a good sign,
Just before we get started, obviously, Wainwright, I don't have all the details, but it's scary to say the least. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people there. Obviously, there are some casualties, but we're praying for those families, and our thoughts go with them.
It was a tight-checking game — both teams really dug in. I thought it was a great game all around. Two good teams that were working and checking, and it came down to special teams. They found a way to get a couple and we didn't.
Well, I'm just gonna watch it. If they're good, they're going to play, and if they're not, they're gonna play less. It's just so simple that it's not even funny. I just stand there, and they decide who plays, so we need more guys playing more. I'm gonna watch and see what happens.
I'm real lucky the way the games have been spaced out and that we've been able to do that a little bit. But that's not the NHL. It's impossible. We'll give those guys a day off [Friday] and get back at her for the next game. But it has to stop. I look at it every night and I go, 'What the heck am I doing?' But I'm also trying to survive right now. So that's what we've been doing. A lot of our other guys have done a phenomenal job for us. We're in a good spot right now, and I'm just hoping that we bought enough time to get some guys.
The good thing for us is we're getting to see everyone in the organization. We're seeing who can play and who can't, (Utah) has got a deep team, and we're going to have a deep team too. But right now we're not as deep, and I thought that showed tonight.
I’m real lucky with the way the games have been spaced out that I’ve been able to [ride the first line] a little bit. But that’s not the NHL, it’s impossible. Tonight we were behind and we pushed. We’ll give them a day off tomorrow and get back at it for the next game, but it has to stop. I look at it every night and I think, ‘what the heck am I doing?’ I’m also trying to survive right now and that’s what I’ve been doing. A lot of our other guys have done a phenomenal job for us, so we’re in a good spot right now. I’m just hoping that we’ve bought enough time to get some guys [back]. I think you’re going to see right away as we get deeper, we’re going to get more production from people. But that’s just not our situation right now.
I thought as it went on in the later part of the game, we started to get on our toes and make more plays to get in their end and get cycles and try to climb on their goalie and get shots from the point. So, we simplified and were able to start to execute and win pucks that way. We just didn't start the game off that way.
one 1st line and three 4th lines....hurting unit
I liked a lot about this game. I liked that everyone competed and dug in, and it was a hard, tight checking game, much like the rest of them lately. So I like the game better tonight than in LA, so that's a positive. We get another crack at them on Saturday.
